Calling all actor/activists…
to audition for the 2017-18 Poetic Justice Theatre Ensemble Season.

Facilitated by Zhaleh Almaee Weinblatt & Marc Weinblatt

About the Class / Auditions

This free 5-week class will introduce people to applied social justice theatre and will double as an “audition” process for people interested in joining the Poetic Justice Theatre Ensemble. Learn fun and valuable techniques while you play with us and we get to know each other. Following the workshop, several participants will be invited to join the Ensemble for the rest of the winter and spring.

A multi-ethnic, multi-generational (teens to elders) team of citizen actors, now celebrating our 17th season, the ensemble’s focus is to stimulate community dialogue and invite positive action towards the creation of a more just and joyous world for all people.

A program of the Mandala Center, we specialize in the internationally acclaimed interactive performance and workshop techniques: Theatre of the Oppressed and Playback Theatre. In our improvisational performances, audience members are not passive spectators but active “spect-actors” invited onstage to explore solutions to their own questions and struggles.

BuyBuyBuySubject matter from previous years’ public performances have included the silencing of youth, racism, poverty, mental health, elder issues, LGBTQ/gender issues, Native issues, islamaphobia, domestic violence, drugs & alcohol, hate speech, immigration, global warming, and war. Inclusive of all opinions, empowering, deeply effective, and fun!
